So how is a breakfast in the hotel done in the times of Covid? At the Principe Hotel & Apartment, all sanitary requirements are fully respected while ensuring the high quality, freshness, and variety of the food served. If you stay with us, we will ask you to check off on a pre-printed list what you would like to eat and drink the next morning and to mark a time slot when you prefer breakfast to be brought to your room. Et voilà, at the time you asked, each guest will be given an exclusive straw bag containing all the food requested, all wrapped individually for optimal sanitation. Covid regulations are fully respected and you can enjoy breakfast in peace and quiet.
If you are vegan or gluten or lactose intolerant, you needn’t worry: the staff of the Principe Hotel & Apartment has the needs of all our guests at heart and can get you specially-made foods.
Open your little straw bag and discover the wonderful fresh taste of brioches, cakes, and bread rolls that are different every day so you’ll never get bored! They are all made by the S.Forno bakery, which takes special care to choose healthy, natural ingredients and use flours and cane sugar that are not highly refined.
The S.Forno bakery is located at Via Santa Monaca 3r, a short ways from our hotel. In addition to pastries and bread baked in a wood-fired oven, it has a wonderful selection of pizzas and focaccia (in Florence it’s called “schiacciata“) that go perfectly with Tuscan cold cuts. You can visit it any time of day for a quick snack or stop here at lunchtime for a meal as casual as it is delicious.
The bakery is decorated in a rustic style and its beautiful country decor is worth a visit itself, featuring terracotta floors, exposed ceiling arches, and large antique sideboards and solid wood shelves like in old-time village shops.
If you’re looking for traditional Tuscan foods to give as gifts, that’s yet another good reason to visit S.Forno: its shelves are stock full of delicious rice, pasta, sauces, and preserves, carefully chosen by the managers for their high quality and elegant packaging alike, making them perfect for bringing a taste of Tuscany back to your friends and relatives who stayed at home!
